How to Choose the Best Cordless Drill

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

If you’d like to learn more about how to choose a drill that meets your needs and budget, simply follow the 2 easy steps…

Step 1 – Select the Type of Drill You Need

The most common types of cordless power drills are summarized below. Select the drill that best fits your needs.

Drill Driver – The most common power tool in a Do-It-Yourself tool box is the Drill Driver. It drills holes and drives screws. If you don’t already have a cordless drill, the versatile Drill Driver is probably the best tool to start with.

Hammer Drill – Will you frequently drill into brick or concrete? Hammer Drills combine drilling and hammer action, delivering thousands of blows per minute (BPM) that pulverizes masonry easier than a Drill Driver.

Cordless Screwdriver – For easy jobs like outlet covers, wall pictures, or barbecue grills, consider a Cordless Screwdriver. These electric screwdrivers are small, light-weight, and convenient to use.

Impact Driver – If you need to drive large lag screws or heavy-duty fasteners, the Impact Driver is for you. It serves up about 3 to 4 times more torque than a Drill Driver, making driving so much easier.

Power Drill – We’re all about cordless here at Cordless Drill Reviews. But we have to admit that an inexpensive, corded Power Drill is still the best tool for those jobs requiring a lot of raw power.

Screw Gun – Do you need to hang drywall, install subflooring, or build a deck? Screw Guns allow you to repeatedly drive screws and countersink holes to a desired depth. They can even auto-feed the screws into the drill.

Right Angle Drill – For working in close quarters, a Right Angle Drill can be the best cordless drill for you. This drill is especially beneficial for electrical, plumbing, and cabinetry work when drilling in hard to access areas.

Step 2 – Select Your Voltage Level

Every drill we evaluate at Cordless Drill Reviews is assigned to one of the following user categories. Select the voltage level that best describes the projects you have in mind.

Analysis on the Export Strategy of China’s Professional Electric Tools

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Power tools industry in China has been hit hard since the global financial crisis began to unravel, however the pace to explore overseas market shall not be stopped. It is a fact that  the domestic brand can not be compared with those international brand, but rather than act blindly in the domestic market, the Chinese electric tools enterprises  should go   out and scramble for the markets of the world. The following points is not only the  competitive strategies  for Chinese electric tool enterprises to enlarge the present market share but also the survival strategies required to respond quickly to the market in the coming years.

1、Improve the quality of products, and accelerate product development. The electric tool enterprises should constantly upgrade the production level and quality of the professional electric tools, with the focus on developing battery-operated power tools and electronic-controlled power tools. As a result of the full scale implement of safety certification in  recent years, the quality of  electric tools made in China continues to improve, yet as a whole , there still exists some gap as compared with the counter parts from those advanced countries, such as single function, poor level, humble appearance design, high noise, low technological content. The Chinese manufacturer of power tools should keep close watch on the new development trend of the electric tools in other countries, concentrate on the research and application  of  high and new technology  and manufacture readily marketable products to meet market needs.

2、Transit the production technology to  intensification、flexibility、automatization、specialization and industrial coordination.  The enterprise should gradually change the export of OEM or neutral packing products to export of their own brand products. Although the OEM and neutral packing modes of production played a main role in rapidly expanding the export of power tools, these production modes are harmful in the long term. Under these modes, the Chinese enterprises are unable to foster the company image, create their own brand names. Many enterprises are unknown to the public , while the brokers make excessive profits. In addition, OEM mode may easily cause trademark infringement. In order to facilitate the sound development of the power tools export, and safeguard the legitimate right of China’s electric tool industry, the Chinese enterprises must try their best to create their own brand names.

3、Study and grasp the customs and practices of international trade of electric tools in Europe and America. The power tool enterprises should stabilize and enlarge occupation rate in European and US market, and diversify the export markets by energetically opening up new market with the focus on African market, Latin-American market and Eastern European Market.

4、Oppose low-cost competitive, and rectify and standardize order in export market. As a result of fierce price competition between power tools enterprises, most of the professional electric tools for export are very cheap, except those made by foreign-funded companies in China. This kind of vicious competition may lead to serious consequence as high quality product may not survive in the market because of high cost, while those inferior quality ones prevails the market by low price, and adversely affect the image of electric tools made in China.

In a word, China’s professional electric tool industry is facing significant opportunities and challenges. The whole industry should work hard to develop the enterprises into top-ranking level both in China and the world, and make fresh contributions to the improvement of professional power tools.
